Lehenga is Indian apparel which is worn by women on lower half of their body and it is similar to sarong. But it is not completed without choli and dupatta. Choli is a garment which is a type of top and dupatta is a 3-4 meter long cloth with a certain width as well to cover the upper half like shroud or scarf. Therefore complete outfit is lehenga choli which is also known as chaniya choli or as ghaghra choli too.

Lehenga is a garment which is pleated and its width or circle reduces as it goes up with perfect fitting around waist. It means that it leaves midriff and backside exposed. That’s why dupatta is used as complementary cloth but it is not necessary at all.

Lehnga is traditional clothing for women in various parts of India but it is now developed as fashion statement as well for various celebrations and occasions. A number of designers have introduced lehenga with embroidery which is done by kundan, resham, zari, mirrors, shingle, sequins, crystals and pebbles as required. They use gold as well to enhance the attraction of lehenga. Designing is done according to occasions and silver embroidery and expensive pebbles are also used for it as well.

There is a large range of varieties of lehenga with choli such as ghaghra choli for parties, traditional lehenga choli and lehenga choli for bride as well. It is a memorable moment for bride to get married therefore essentially it is made like a piece of life time. It has a load of embroidery and design works to make it attraction of all.

Types of lehenga choli depend on the physical structure of the woman a lot who is supposed to wear that. Women with slim physique may go for style of deep neck and embroider lehanga. Women with wide shoulders may use deep necked top but it should not be wide. It is important to note here that it does not suit the women with flab.

Lehenga has different types regarding its length and width as well. lehenga with print leaves and flora are liked as well if it is full length. For women with short height, it is better to go for prints which are perpendicular.

Lehega is made of fabrics with glittering features like georgette and crepe if it is for parties but silk, polyester and cotton are also used for casual wearing.
